Our Programs: EPWBA
The Eastern
Panhandle Walking/Biking Alliance (EPWBA) was formed as one of
the control measures for the air quality program's Early Action
Plan.
Excessive
ground level pollution can reduce crop yields from local farms.
The bicycle/pedestrian
control measure for the Early Action Plan promotes bicycling and
walking as an alternative to using motorized means of transportation.
While cars are often essential for getting from point A to point
B, there are other options.
The EPWBA
will work with any organization within the Eastern Panhandle to
promote biking and walking issues such as; encourage the development
of plans in new and older communities to provide areas conducive
for walking or biking, promote mass transit use, adopt bicycle
friendly policies, provide bike racks, build bike/walking paths.
Besides
reducing emissions from cars, walking and biking also improve
our general health by providing much needed exercise.
Most trips
in the United States are of less than two miles. A
distance that can be walked or easily biked. The next time
you have a short trip, consider one of these two alternatives.
